Get Out The Vote – We Need You!

  • October 27th, 2014

Get Out The Vote or GOTV is kicking up into high gear and we need your help. Only about 66% of our likely supporters turn out to vote in elections that are not presidential election years. When we come out to vote in normal numbers our like-minded progressive candidates win. It is imperative we work hard to get our supporters to the polls as many important races are very close this year.

You can help by being a poll watcher, making phone calls, or going door to door to remind our likely supporters to vote. These are easy tasks as they are our supporters, you’d just be reminding them to vote. Any amount of time would be greatly appreciated and only one hour of your time can make a big difference.

For more info please email us at info@nekritznow.com or call 847-998-5757. Thanks!

Chicago Tribune Endorsement

  • October 23rd, 2014

I’m excited to receive the endorsement of the Chicago Tribune!

You can read the full article on their site about the Illinois State Representatives, or read what they said about the 57th District below.

    Chicago Tribune

57th District: Two years ago we opposed Democratic Rep. Elaine Nekritz of Northbrook as an expression of our frustration that Springfield had failed year after year on pension reform. Nekritz is the House Democrats’ key negotiator on pensions. She stuck with the effort and got results. She deserves as much credit as anyone for crafting and winning approval for the reform bill that was signed into law. Now let’s hope the Supreme Court upholds that law. Nekritz is smart and a student of policy. We recognize the patient, persistent work she has done (and will be counted on to do in the future). She has a strong opponent in Bill Grossi, a Mount Prospect attorney. We endorse Nekritz for re-election.

Daily Herald: Nekritz Having an impact in House Dist. 57

  • October 13th, 2014

I am happy to announce that I have earned the endorsement of the Daily Herald!  You can ready the full story here

Endorsement: Nekritz having an impact in House Dist. 57

    The Daily Herald Editorial Board

Elaine Nekritz has held her 57th District House seat for a dozen years, but it’s more recently that she has earned a reputation as one of the state’s most knowledgeable lawmakers on pension matters. As chair of the pension committee, she has been key to any progress toward reform, and Illinois will continue to benefit from her pragmatic and collaborative approach on this pressing issue. For that reason we endorse her.

Nekritz, a Democrat from Northbrook, is House majority leader but touts her independence from superiors, pointing to a recent energy resolution backed by Speaker Michael Madigan that she opposed on the floor. Such boldness happens too infrequently in Springfield, and Nekritz has acquired the confidence to stand by her convictions. While we may not agree with some of her views on state spending, we can appreciate that voters know what they’ll get with her. She favors a tax on services, pointing to surrounding states that have one. Her goal is to give businesses more surety, a predictable tax future they can work with.

Her challenger is Republican Bill Grossi, a political newcomer and tax lawyer from Mount Prospect who is motivated by Illinois residents’ lack of trust in state government and who believes legislative positions should be full-time with no side jobs allowed, reducing the chance for corruption. But Nekritz’s leadership, knowledge and no-nonsense attitude is what the General Assembly needs at this time.
